On Saturday, 27 June 1942, (a part of) the aircraft of the 405 squadron (RCAF), took off for a mission to Bremen in Germany from a station (airfield) in or near Pocklington. One of the crew members was Flight Sergeant J E Cole RCAF. He departed for his mission at 23:31. He flew with a Handley Page Halifax (type II, with serial W1110 and code LQ-C). His mission and of the other crew members was planned for Sunday, 28 June 1942.
